STABILIZER 2000: the natural alternative to concrete and asphalt

Lucchi Granulati S.p.A. is the official supplier of STABILIZER, a natural binding agent in fine grained that has been used successfully in North America for more than twenty years.

Material treated with STABILIZER can be used in various ways: to constructing paths, courts, car parks, cycle paths and school playgrounds and all other path surfaces used for gardens and landscaping; STABILIZER is also an ideal product for sports surfaces, e.g. tennis courts, all-weather pitches (football and baseball) or horse riding rings. Its characteristics make STABILIZER the perfect product for grassing without humus and re-pointing paving surfaces.

The advantages:

• Environmentally friendly
• Water-permeable
• Permanently flexible
• Suitable for any climate
• Low maintenance costs
• Easy to handle
• Durable

How it works?

Material
• STABILIZER is a binding agent that binds granules together to form a solid surface, which is extremely hard-wearing, even on steep slopes (>15%).
• STABILIZER fully retains the natural character of the treated materials, enabling architects to best achieve the appearance they are looking for.
• STABILIZER is a powder produced from plants, which is non-toxic as well as colourless and odourless and which, because it is non-toxic, can be used in water protection areas.

Ecology

Depending on the particle-size distribution curve for the materials used for the load-bearing and top layer, STABILIZER can be used to produce a water-permeable surface, whose hollows retain a certain proportion of rain water which is then allowed to evaporate back into the atmosphere. This micro-climate also has specific thermal properties, in terms of the material, which demonstrates considerably less fluctuation than conventional bonded surfaces.

Economy

STABILIZER surfaces are perfect for areas where savings on production and maintenance are a major factor. Creating areas with STABILIZER is clearly far less expensive than using asphalt, paving or slabs, or even chemically bonded top layers. A surface created using STABILIZER does not require any more maintenance than gravel stabilised in a conventional manner. Should a surface be damaged as a result of excessive use, it can be easily repaired using STABILIZER. All you need do is lift the material, wet the damaged areas and re-compact the surface – signs of repair disappear after just a few days. After a certain period of use, it is normal for loose granules to appear on the surface, but should these be excessive because of intensive use, they can easily be re-bonded by wetting and rolling the surface.
